Build your brand

How do you stand out from the crowd?

What is your story?

Whether it’s in an interview or in a networking situation, you need people to remember who you are and what you stand for. If you struggle to articulate what you’re all about, a long and boring CV is not going to help. The CV is not the first-line marketing tool that it used to be.

Give me a story!

The old-fashioned elevator pitch always sounds over-rehearsed, bland and impersonal. Trying to mention everything you’ve ever done is not what people want to hear.

An interesting, well-crafted career story however, is something genuine and personal. Your career coach will help you to identify the key themes of your story and how you can weave these together to create a strong and lasting impression. Your story will shape your LinkedIn, your verbal narrative, and your CV.

Find out how you can develop a story that will become the foundation of your personal brand and something that you can continue to leverage in the future.

Your brand is important.
Look after it.

Senior level recruitment has changed significantly in the past ten years. This much will be obvious to anyone who has tried looking for a new role recently. Making sure your LinkedIn profile really stands out is not as straightforward as it should be; getting time for a one-on-one meeting with headhunters is much more difficult than it used to be; and the art of networking has suddenly become a key skill that most of us have ignored for far too long. All of these are dependent on one key feature of your job search: your personal brand.

So what can you do to make sure you get noticed for the ideal job that you’re aiming for?

There are no easy answers, but one thing is clear: a distinctive and memorable personal brand is key. As Jeff Bezos said, “your personal brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room”. An effective brand starts with a verbal description of who you are, your ideal role, and what credentials you have for that role. Your LinkedIn profile, your personal website, and your CV should all support and reinforce that brand. Make sure that you can articulate a personal brand that will help you to stand out. It’s not an elevator pitch that you learn off by heart. It should be a new language that you use to describe where you’re going, and that others use to promote your brand even when you’re not there.

Taking time to get the brand right is an essential step in any successful job search.

  • Our service is built around three core elements:

    • Exploring career options and helping you to build clarity around your ideal role, what this could be, and how it fits with your professional experience & personal goals.

    • Developing a personal brand that is clear, compelling and memorable, including your verbal narrative, CV, LinkedIn profile and personal website (where appropriate).

    • Mastering the art of career networking as a tool to help you uncover opportunities that would otherwise remain hidden.

  • I start with a different approach.

For most people, the old way of just sending out CVs to headhunters and applying for jobs just doesn't work.

There's a better way of doing this. One that is more focused and more likely to get results.

My approach is based on developing a career goal that suits you at this stage in your career, building a strong and effective personal brand that neatly summarises who you are and what you represent, and learning how to uncover new opportunities by building and leveraging a stronger personal network.

I believe in you. As your coach my job is to help you develop the skills that you need in order to succeed, to encourage and motivate you, and to give you the confidence that you can achieve your goals. These skills will stand you in good stead for many years to come.

Above all I care. Your success matters to me. I won't give up and I will do everything I can to support you in this journey.
